Heritage Tales

Heritage Tales

I so enjoy listening to friends and associates whose backstories are rich in different cultures and experiences. From different backgrounds, they have things to say that enriched the development of this province. Some are funny, some poignant, some inspirational, some teach us things. All are powerful.

Their families struggled against the most terrible deprivations to make their way to a better life here in Canada. True life exemplars of determination, talent and courage. I intend to collect their stories, their memories, their emotions before time erases them forever.

Data collection is planned to start in 2023. As these stories unfold, the title of this project is likely to change. The poem below sets the tone for the Heritage Tales.

Days Gone By

“The special book upon the shelf,

Was made by many hands.

Our ancestors who posed back then,

All came from different lands.

Their pictures were all tucked away,

And rarely did we see,

The importance of these treasures -

The start of you and me.

The history of our families,

Now here in black and white.

Preserved with special care and time,

Each page is done just right.

When time permits, we take it down,

And think of days long past.

Our hopes, our dreams, our heritage

All safe and made to last.”
