Vivien Hollis is a writer of historical fiction and women’s fiction. She writes shorts stories and novels. All of her work has a thread of truth, a base in fact, but all are fiction.
She enjoys the research that is involved in each and every story and is eager to get events and facts correct.
If you have anything to add to her published stories or the work she is currently engaged in, please feel free to contact her. Vivien would love to hear from you.
Vivien Hollis
Vivien Hollis was born and educated in Co. Down, Northern Ireland and worked as an occupational therapist in England. During her years doing clinical work, she had a few successes with writing. Her short story, Autumn and Winter, was runner up in a competition by Competitors Journal and she was invited to read two of her short stories for BBC Radio Solent. Whilst working and bringing up her son she earned further degrees (Education, MSc in Health) that culminated in a PhD in Medicine from the University of Exeter. She was Principal Lecturer at the University of Brighton before immigrating to Canada to take up a Professorship at the University of Alberta. Academia and years of researching, writing scientific papers, and supervising students, took over. However, having retired she has now returned to fiction writing. Her inspiration comes from women’s voices and Co. Down’s Ards Peninsula, where she returns every year.
Praise for Vivien’s Writing
“This is one of the most haunting anythings I've ever read. Bravo!! I've never seen an approach to a story like this. It's incredible.”
— Richard Van Camp
